I don't see a big deal in paying monthly for Aion. NCsoft will offer 60 day time cards, so I won't need a credit card.
  • People pay $40 a month for a Cellphone bill. I don't have a cellphone, so I will have something cheaper.
  • Aion has been in development for a very long time. It looks like they really put a lot of effort into this game, I'm willing to give it a go.
  • Based on the age poll at the biggest aion fansite, most players will be atleast 18+

Age means nothing, at least not in video games. I can not tell you how many immature adults I have met on Guild Wars. Saying that being 18+ makes you mature is a false statement.

So why did it take them 3 years to discuss that Leah Stone or whatever her name is should run faster?

They have a TODO list, they have a list of resources (man-months of developers), match the two by setting priorities. Tht's the general idea, most "serious) companies work like that. Leah Stone was not a priority and was fixed only when they cleared more important stuff (don't ask me details, I'm not working at Anet).

Back OT. Aion indeed does have an Asian style, but I don't feel it's as heavy as in Lineage. And indeed NCsoft being behind GW and Aion may explain the similarities, yet I can't help having the impression that there's something GW1 (or GW2)-related in Aion (this is NOT a rumour, this is only my opinion, take it with a big grain of salt).

And about TCOS, I didn't realise from the dozens of videos I saw that it was cartoony, it's nothing like WoW graphically. Too bad it's pay2play because it looks like a brilliant game (and I'll play it if they put me into the public beta).

FYI: part TCOS is free (as beer) - couple of areas and lowbie most of stuff. So it has kinda "infinite trial".

aion is the one game i been waiting on uses cry engine for graphics the game is gorgous.

its been in beta testing for abotu 10 months now had 3 closed beta last one in july and now nov 11th open starts,

they also gave 1 week to make your toons befor eyou can play lol the toon creation is by far the best one, only bad thing you cant pick eye color, to try to get your eye color you want you do randoms til you find the right color then edit the rest.

going to be pay to play but its worth it not like wow, wow is junk

im to the point wher i wont play guildwars 2 just to give 1000% to aion. the ranger/assiasin classes are great turning yorself into rocks and birds and bushes, long with slowing time and shadowing yoruself

If I didn't know this screenshot was from Aion:

I'd have said it was from GW.

...and here's the little farm north of Lions Arch...

I've been following Aion for quite a while.. and I think I'll be getting it.

I don't think pay to play is as bigger disadvangtage as some people make out - its £8 a month.. and on average someone of my age in a normal job can be earning £6 an hour. So you work 80 minutes for many hours of gameplay.

For an occasional player Aion isn't ideal.. for a regular player I think there'd have to be a bigger downside to turn down a game like this. I think it looks amazing.
